REYNARD BUTLER – My Story – PART 1

by | Feb 25, 2020 | Reynard Butler, Team Protouch

I am a pure sprinter, winning races for the UCI-registered ProTouch Continental Team. I am ranked 20th in South Africa, 75th in Africa UCI World rankings.

HERE IS MY STORY – I was born and raised in a small coastal town called East London, in South Africa until I moved to Johannesburg to compete as a professional cyclist. Cycling was not originally my first choice of sport but following an an injury during a rugby game I made the choice to move to cycling. Since then, I have never looked back and I am really fortunate to have come so far in my professional cycling career.

One of my dreams was to race abroad in Europe and Asia, ProTouch has given South African athletes like me, the platform to perform on the World stage. This has allowed me to travel to over 13 different countries on four continents.

My greatest achievement have to be my two stage wins in Tour of Melez Zenawi (Ethiopia) in 2016 and more recently my stage win in Tour of China II at the end of 2019.

The best advice I could give to any young aspiring cyclist, is to take a chance and push your boundaries always.
