[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]I grew up dreaming of racing, the biggest races in the world. I am a puncheur-type rider, with a strong sense of responsibility and duty to my team mates who, know that they can always rely on me to get the job done – whatever that might be.
I am fairly quiet in nature, with an easygoing attitude and doing my best job ALWAYS, is really important to me.
HERE IS MY STORY – In 2012, I earned the chance to ride with UCI Continental Team MTN Qhubeka. This provided me with a great opportunity and I gained valuable experience, as well as insight into the life of a professional cyclist. My dedication and training paid off, when I won the South African National U23 Championships and earning the opportunity to tour with the team in Europe, for 2 months.
In 2013, I joined the UCI World Cycling Centre – Africa Team, rode for the MTN-Qhubeka feeder team and at the UCI Cycling Centre in Switzerland, this gave me more international racing exposure in Switzerland, France and Belgium. It was a terrific learning curve and a number of highlights for me, before moving to local SA Team Europcar in 2014, as Captain. I really enjoyed the responsibility that came with this leadership.
In 2015, I joined the British-based Raleigh Cycling team in Derby and this added a new dimension to my cycling career, living and racing abroad. In 2016, I returned to South Africa and joined a new local team Luso, supported by the Portuguese community. I was then offered the opportunity to join ex-SA pro rider Malcolm Langa’s BCX Pro Team, here I was able to put my skills and team work to the test and a lot of good results came from this.
In 2018, I finished the South African National Championships in 6th place and then seized a podium (3rd Place) at the inaugural Tour de Limpopo UCI 2.2. I represented the South African National Team in the Tour of Taiwan and finished off in 15th place on Stage 1 and 12th place on Stage 5.
I was then invited to guest ride with ProTouch, at the end of 2018 and participated in Tour du Rwanda, finishing in 15th place on stage 1 and 3rd place on Stage 3. In 2019, ProTouch registered a Continental Team and I am privileged to be part of the number one Team in Africa. This is my second year with the Team and despite some of the set backs experienced so far this year as a result of COVID-19 we hope to be racing again soon.
