BUILD THE ULTIMATE AFRICAN CYCLING NFT COLLECTION, FEATURING TOP PERFORMING AFRICAN ROAD CYCLISTS ON THE WORLD STAGE AND SUPPORT THE PHIL LIGGETT FOUNDATION
PROTOUCH in partnership with The Phil Liggett Foundation today announced the release of a series of African Pro Cycling NFTs on the Blocksport platform.
Each NFT represents an iconic African Road Cyclist and fans can now own African Cycling NFT Content, build vibrant African Cycling NFT Collections and be part of the PHIL LIGGETT FOUNDATION’s – African Athlete Impact Fund, from the beginning!
This first collection of 2021 African Cycling NFTs is divided into three parts – regular Icon NFTs, signed digital artworks and an animated movie – depicting the road cyclist in their team kit and representing the brands that support them. Fans who collect all three will also receive a high resolution PDF, that can be printed, framed and displayed.
The starting price for the regular Icon NFTs and animated movie NFTs has been set at 0.2 BNB each and the signed digital artworks 0.3 BNB. A ‘Rare’ Collectibles Series will drop starting at 0.5 BNB.
All items are to be sold through an auction and the proceeds will form the initial investment into the Foundations’ African Athlete Impact Fund. A percentage of the proceeds is paid to the Athlete, who can choose to donate this back to the Foundation.
The collection includes over twenty road cyclists currently riding on the World Stage, as well as a few ‘Rare’ items representing past notable achievements.
The first Rare NFT Collectible represents Eritrean Daniel Teklehaimanot, who made history when he became the first African to wear the polka-dot jersey at the 2015 Le Tour de France.
Here’s a sneak peak of some of the first edition collectibles you will find: RYAN GIBBONS – African Continental Road and ITT Champion (representing both his 2021 UAE Team Emirates and participation at #Tokyo2020); ASHLEIGH MOOLMAN – multiple African Road and Time Trial Champion, Commonwealth Games Medalist, triple Olympian and E Sports World Champion. Considered the Queen of African Women’s Cycling, fans can purchase a series of three NFTs representing her 2021 SD-Worx Team, Queen’s stage win at the Giro d’Italia Donne and #Tokyo2020; BINIAM GHIRMAY – the young Eritrean that catapulted onto the World Stage, seizing the silver medal at this years U23 World Road Championships; and many more…
“PROTOUCH is thrilled to be launching these first NFT editions, recognizing African Road Cyclists. Each one that we place into a global digital cycling ecosystem has the opportunity to transform many more opportunities for African cyclists that follow”, commented Rebecca Eliot – Founder of PROTOUCH AFRICA.
“We take our responsibility to enable more African athletes seriously and believe that this a way for current African road cyclists to help to Pay it Forward”, she added.
