Kelvin Kiptum, hailing from Kenya, emerged as the star of the Men’s Marathon, clinching the gold medal with an extraordinary world record-breaking time of 2:00:35. Kiptum’s achievement was unparalleled as he became the first man ever to break the 2:01:00 barrier.
Remarkably, this victory came in only his third marathon. Kiptum’s strategic prowess became evident as he surged ahead of his competitors by the 35 km mark, finishing the race with a remarkable negative split.
